Hope has returned!

Yesssss. We are supposed to get sun and warm temps this weekend. So, out I go again, to re-plant the seeds I planted 3 weeks ago. I get to dig up more grape hyacinths to give away. Oh yeah, and I get to rake under the pines too. What fun! It’ll all be nice though when it’s done. There’s a lot more than what I’ve just mentioned to do as well. Yikes. I like it though, most of the time.

A couple weeks ago I put an ad in Craig’s List. I said that I have lots of Grape Hyacinths and want to give them away. Come and get them! About 10 to 12 people did. Got rid of a lot of them. Not all. So last weekend I dug up some more, put them in bags and boxes and put them against my fence in the backyard, it faces a busy street and put a sign on it saying “FREE. Grape Hyacinth bulbs. Ready to plant.” They were gone in a couple hours. Now I need to do that again. I like the flowers, I do, really. But they are so prolific and soon they take over the whole garden. At the base of the bulb are tiny and not-so-tiny bulb-lets that easily come off. So, if you were to dig up the bulbs, then shake them, the tiny bulb-lets will break off and where ever they land, if there is soil, they will grow. I promise. I know this because I have many in my back yard. In the grass. Now there are clumps of them in the grass. See, I told you they were prolific! So, anyway, I’m hoping to clean up what I’ve got this weekend. Then I can rake and figure out what I want to do with that area this year.

Since the weather turned so bad the last couple of weeks I now have to re-plant my seeds. I think it’ll be okay. But then, I thought it was alright last time I planted. I’ve got peas, lettuce, broccoli, and brussel sprouts to re-plant. I bought 2 more blueberry bushes to add to the 6 I already have. They are planted but I need to give them each a little snip to encourage growth. So glad I’ve pruned all my raspberry bushes. Hopefully we’ll have lots of berries. Lilacs are budding out too. So, things are beginning to happen. I love it! Sun! Warmth! I. AM. READY!.
